Everton can Continue Resurgence Under Big Sam

December 13, 2017

Everton have won three of the last four matches.

It was two winners from three bets last night as only a late goal at Crystal Palace prevented the clean sweep. A routine win for Chelsea and another home win for Burnley saw us make a tidy profit on Tuesday’s Premier League games, but it would have been a perfect night if Watford could have held on for a few minutes to claim a draw. Palace scored twice at the death for an unlikely 2-1 victory after trailing 1-0 for most of the game, while Burnley’s win saw them move into the top four and dreamland!

We go again tonight and although Liverpool, Spurs, and both Manchester clubs are in action, we’re avoiding those games for better odds elsewhere. Everton are a huge price to win at Newcastle on Wednesday night – a bet that wouldn’t have made sense a few weeks ago but looks very tempting in light of the Toffees improvements under Sam Allardyce. Since being announced as manager his new side has won three games and earned a creditable draw at Anfield against arch-rivals Liverpool. Newcastle are on a shocking run of six defeats in seven matches and are vulnerable to an Everton team high on confidence.

There are big prices about West Ham at home to Arsenal too, and although we won’t go as far as backing the Hammers to follow up their win over Chelsea, there is fair value about David Moyes’ side getting at least a point. The Gunners had to hit back for a late point at Southampton over the weekend and their away record remains patchy. West Ham always raise their game for this London derby, and with the confidence flowing after than win over Chelsea, the East-Londoners will be a tough nut for Wenger’s stars to crack.

Finally it’s a trip to the South coast where Southampton entertain Leicester and both teams are fancied to get on the scoresheet. Clean sheets are few and far between for these two clubs – Leicester have kept just two in the last ten games, while Southampton have only managed one.

Newcastle v Everton

The top brass at Everton could hardly have hoped for a better impact since appointing San Allardyce, and their expensively assembled squad is starting to look more like value for money. The Toffees are 3.25Bet €100 to win €3259/4Bet £100 to win £325+225Bet $100 to win $3252.25Bet HK$100 to win HK$3252.25Bet Rp100 to win Rp325-0.4444Bet RM100 to win RM325  with BetVictor to win at the Magpies tonight and those are odds worth taking.

Rafa Benitez must have been tearing his hair out last weekend as he watched his side fight back from 2-1 down at home to Leicester, only to concede a late winner to the Foxes. That brought up a run of six defeats in seven games and any good early season work has been undone as the Magpies have dropped down to 16th place in the table – remarkably only a point ahead of Palace. They’ve conceded 15 goals in the last five games and have also been beaten at home by Watford and Bournemouth in the last three at St James’ Park.

Everton were on the back foot for long periods against Liverpool but stood firm and clawed their way back to a 1-1 draw. That came off the back of three wins with clean sheets against West Ham, Huddersfield, and Apollen in the Europa League. With quality of the likes of Sigurdsson and Rooney in the side the Toffees were fancied by some to have a very good season but everything surprisingly fell apart under Ronald Koeman. They are now playing catch-up but those results have taken them up to 10th in the league and into the top half. The odds are too big for a side in great form against a side in terrible form.

West Ham v Arsenal

West Ham are another side with a new manager but it hasn’t been quite the same turnaround for David Moyes. He had to wait for his fifth game in charge for the first win, but in typical West Ham fashion, it came against the champions Chelsea. The Hammers are 2.40Bet €100 to win €2407/5Bet £100 to win £240+140Bet $100 to win $2401.40Bet HK$100 to win HK$2401.40Bet Rp100 to win Rp240-0.7143Bet RM100 to win RM240  with 888Sport to avoid defeat against Arsenal and those odds are worth taking.

The confidence that result should have given the Hammers will be much-welcomed by Moyes, but the running stats show that the win was less down to luck and more down to work ethic. Before Moyes took charge West Ham had the worst statistics in the league for distance covered and sprints by players during games, and Moyes has demanded more competitive effort from his charges. That has translated into improved performances away at Manchester City – where they led 1-0 – and at home to Chelsea.

Arsenal have been exemplary at home this term but away form has left plenty to be desired. The Gunners have only won two of eight Premier League road games, drawing two and losing four. The last two road trips have seen them score very late goals – a winner at Burnley after a controversial penalty and an equaliser against Southampton over the weekend. There is nothing to suggest that Arsenal should be odds-on to win this game and the value is with West Ham or draw.

Southampton v Leicester

Finally, we’ll back both teams to score at 1.81Bet €100 to win €18181/100Bet £100 to win £181-123Bet $100 to win $1810.81Bet HK$100 to win HK$181-1.23Bet Rp100 to win Rp1810.8100Bet RM100 to win RM181  with 888Sport when Leicester visit Southampton.

Claude Puel’s Leicester side has won 17 points in eight games since Craig Shakespeare left the club, and most importantly, Vardy and Mahrez appeaar to be back in tandem. They’ve only lost once in ten (to Manchester City) and have won the last three on the spin versus Spurs, Newcastle and Burnley. The Foxes have scored in nine of their last ten games, and conceded in eight of them.

Southampton aren’t in such good form, having won just two of their last ten matches, but they’ve scored in all but twwo of them and conceded in all but one. It was a good performance against Arsenal on home ground at the weekend and perhaps they should have won, given the chances they spurned before the Gunners equaliser. The Saints rarely fail to score in front of their own fans but they may find it tough to keep out a Leicester side on a great run.
