Bullish about Leipzig beating all Bar Bayern

August 18, 2017

RB Leipzig can cause a stir in this seasons Bundesliga.

There is no argument that Bayern Munchen should be odds on to win the German Bundesliga but that Dortmund should be shorter than even money to win the competition excluding Carlo Ancelotti’s team is not so easy to accept.

Dortmund is odds on across the board to win the German Bundesliga without Bayern Munchen and, having failed to justify short prices in the same heat last season, one is surprised that the Black and Yellows are so far ahead of Leipzig and other in this term’s equivalent market.

Just days after Dortmund won the German DFB Pokal final to land its first major trophy in five years, the Black and Yellows parted company with Thomas Tuchel. According to Dortmund chief executive officer Hans-Joachim Watzke, he and Black and Yellows sporting director Michael Zorc had worn out themselves in their workings with the coaching group.

Dortmund has appointed Peter Bosz and that has to rate as a big gamble for the Black and Yellows. Bosz, who won a Dutch Eredivisie-winning player while on Feyenoord’s books, is yet to win a significant piece of silverware as a manager and the Ajax side that he led last term failed to make the UEFA Champions League group stage, albeit being making a run to the UEFA Europa League final in which it lost to Manchester United. Dortmund coughed up a lot of money in compensation to acquire Bosz from Ajax but will it be money went spent?

One cannot understand why Betfred is going out of its way to offer odds of 5.00Bet €100 to win €5004/1Bet £100 to win £500+400Bet $100 to win $5004.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$5004.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp500-0.2500Bet RM100 to win RM500  about Leipzig doing exactly what it did last season and winning the German Bundesliga without Bayern Munchen. Leipzig, against the odds it has to be said, has managed to return all of its key personnel from last term, with the notable stayers including player Emil Forsberg and manager Ralph Hasenhuttl. There are fewer question marks about Leipzig than they are about Dortmund and, in what shapes as a two-team race, the Red Bulls are overpriced.

Bayern Munchen ran away with the German Bundesliga title last season, accruing 82 points from its 34 matches – 15 more than Leipzig, 18 more than Dortmund and 20 more than Hoffenheim with another 13 separating Hoffe and Koln. One cannot make a case for any side other than Leipzig and Dortmund winning the German Bundesliga without Bayern market, with Hoffenheim having its squad raided in the summer and the rest of the teams having too much ground to make up. The likes of Bremen, Schalke and Wolfsburg are likely to ascend further up the German Bundesliga ladder but there is a world of difference between contending for a UEFA Champions League berth and challenging for second place.

If you do not like banks and want to earn about 20 per cent on your money over nine months, backing Bayern Munchen to pull off a successful German Bundesliga title defence is a viable investment option. Niklas Sule and Sebastian Rudy have joined Bayern from Hoffenheim and James Rodriguez is on loan from Real Madrid for as long as Ancelotti’s side wants him. Only the injury list to end all injury lists would prevent Bayern from being Germany’s champion yet again.

Bayern will kick off its German Bundesliga campaign with a home game against Leverkusen on Friday. Dortmund’s first German Bundesliga assignment will be away to Wolfsburg on Saturday, a potential banana skin because surely the Wolves will not flirt with relegation this term. Leipzig’s opening German Bundesliga clash will be at Schalke on Saturday.
