Seyasah to Perform hold-up Heroics at Doncaster

August 5, 2017

Saturday's racing includes tips from Doncaster and Newmarket.

2.40 Newmarket – Onefootinparadise

In recent seasons, Philip McBride has endured a baron spell by his high standards. There is no doubting the ability of the Newmarket based handler, and he has shown a flicker of a revival in the past few weeks, with 2 of 6 of his horses scoring. He has another horse with a fair chance in the form of Onefootinparadise and here is hoping that McBride can get one of his representatives back in the winner’s enclosure.

Onefootinparadise has been installed at fancy odds by some online sportsbooks, and if you can forgive the horse her last effort, she would be much shorter. The Footstepsinthesand filly showed progressive form in three maiden runs – she improved her RPR each time she saw the racetrack. Despite being allocated a reasonable mark of 73 for handicap debut, McBride had bigger aspirations and entered his filly into the Wetherby’s Super Sprint at Newbury. Naturally, she struggled against some high class types and was eventually beaten into 17th place.

The fillies’ last run was 14 days ago, which is a good thing from this stable. When Philip McBride turns his horses out within 8-14 days of their last appearance, they are profitable; 52/317 (16%) for £113 LSP. The step back up to 6 furlongs should suit and now the horse is back down in more appropriate company, she has a chance at 10.00Bet €100 to win €10009/1Bet £100 to win £1000+900Bet $100 to win $10009.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$10009.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp1000-0.1111Bet RM100 to win RM1000  with Bet365 and BetVictor.

5.05 Doncaster – Seyasah

Doncaster host a competitive looking fillies’ handicap on Saturday and one runner that catches our eye is the Chris Wall trained Seyasah. It is fair to say that this daughter of Casamento has hardly set the world alight to date, and accordingly, she is only rated 66. However, there can be far more optimism gleaned from the performance of Wall’s 3-year-old filly last time out when she filled the runners’ up berth, and there is cause to think she may take a further step forward this time round. She is definitely not bomb proof, but odds of 6.00Bet €100 to win €6005/1Bet £100 to win £600+500Bet $100 to win $6005.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$6005.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp600-0.2000Bet RM100 to win RM600  with Bet365 and William Hill seem a little too big given the trainer’s record at this time of year with 3-year olds taking on their elders.

Like most Chris Wall 2-year olds, Seyasah wasn’t quick to come to hand. The filly record form figures of 7-7-5 in her first three run. Despite finishing down the field, her efforts weren’t devoid of promise, and the handicapper issued her what looked like a pretty harsh mark of 71. A final start in maiden company in 2016 saw the horse disappoint and her comeback run at Yarmouth this season wasn’t much better. Dropped down to a mark of 65, connections clearly thought they had seen some improvement from the pipe opener at Yarmouth, as the horse wasn’t unfancied in the market at Leicester when dropping back to 6 furlongs on fast ground. She showed much more pizzazz and finished second in a reasonable looking race. Sire Casamento is a relative newcomer to the breeding world, but from limited evidence, the suggestion is that his progeny tend to do better when the ground is on the soft side of good. Those are the conditions the filly will get at Doncaster. She is a hold up performer which is always good at Doncaster, and could be well handicapped.

As mentioned, Chris Wall does very well with his 3-year olds who are competing in 3 year old+ handicap company from June-October; 51/302 (17%) for a LSP of £63. His entrants score around 20% more often than they should given their odds, and the shrewd Newmarket trained is adept at placing his horses in races they can win.
