England & Netherlands Under-19’s Combine for Goals
The Under-19 European Championships in Georgia continue throughout Wednesday and Thursday, and SBO has looked over the match betting for the best odds over the two days. We’ve already highlighted our outright bets for the tournament, and we’re keen on the two matches in group B on Thursday involving England and Germany.
The Germans are a fancy enough price to win the trophy after succumbing to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Netherlands in their opening group match on Monday. They compete against Bulgaria on Thursday night in what has become a do-or-die match for both teams. The Bulgarians were beaten 2-0 by England’s young lions on the same Monday and there is little margin for error for either side if they wish to qualify for the semi finals.
England and Netherlands are nicely in the box seat when it comes to claiming the top two spaces in group B, but the picture will become much clearer after the two sides meet in Thursday afternoon. Both have three points, but the situation is better for the Dutch than the English. Netherlands will go on to face Bulgaria after this game, while England will have the task of overcoming Germany. That could make for a very tough last group game, and if qualification depends on it, one would be unwise to predict the outcome.
in Wednesday’s games, Sweden are playing host Georgia, while Portugal take on Czech Republic. The latter pair are both on three points after victories in Sunday’s opening group A matches, so both will be looking to take another step towards qualification.
England U19 v Netherlands U19
First we’ll back England and Holland to serve up a game with over 2.5 goals at 1.76Bet €100 to win €17619/25Bet £100 to win £176-132Bet $100 to win $1760.76Bet HK$100 to win HK$176-1.32Bet Rp100 to win Rp1760.7600Bet RM100 to win RM176 with Unibet, 188Bet and 32Red.
Netherlands may have kept three clean sheets in a row during March 2017, but their final warm-up game before this competition ended in a 7-2 friendly win over Katwijk. Their first match at the finals in Georgia could hardly have gone better, coming from behind as they did to trounce a shell-shocked Germany 4-1. PSV Eindhoven’s Piroe was on the mark three times in an incredible second half, and he may be one to watch for the Dutch at this tournament.
A look at England’s recent record shows a proliferate side, and although the 2-0 win over Bulgaria failed to cross the 2.5 goal line, it was on of only two matches in the last ten that hadn’t. The other eight games England’s under-19’s competed in all had at least three goals, and England have been successful in 8 of the last 10 to boot.
Czech Republic U19 v Portugal U19
Portugal are favourites with the bookmakers to win this game, but better value might be found with teh Czech Republic on the double chance at 1.73Bet €100 to win €17373/100Bet £100 to win £173-137Bet $100 to win $1730.73Bet HK$100 to win HK$173-1.37Bet Rp100 to win Rp1730.7300Bet RM100 to win RM173 with Betway.
The Czech’s won their group in the recent Toulon tournament, reaching the semi final before losing to Ivory Coast. They were also beaten by Scotland U20’s in the subsequent third place play off, but one shouldn’t take away from their efforts in the group where they finished above the Scots and the Brazil U20 side. Apart from those defeats at the business end and a 0-0 draw with Brazil, Czech Republic have won seven of the last ten games and will be competitive here.
A draw might also suit both teams as they aim to finish in the top two positions and take the semi final slots. Portugal beat hosts Georgia 1-0 in their opener on Sunday, and have won six of their last ten overall. These two sides drew 1-1 back in 2015, and although the squads will have changed, we won’t be too surprised to see a similar result here. Backing the Czech’s on the double chance also covers the possibility of them winning the game and taking the three points.
Germany U19 v Bulgaria U19
Finally, Germany are a fair price of 1.75Bet €100 to win €1753/4Bet £100 to win £175-133Bet $100 to win $1750.75Bet HK$100 to win HK$175-1.33Bet Rp100 to win Rp1750.7500Bet RM100 to win RM175 with Betway to beat a -1 handicap when they take on Bulgaria.
Although the Bulgarians may have counted themselves unlucky to go down 2-0 to England on Monday, they might just be on the end of a backlash here. Germany were beaten 4-1 by rampant Dutch side on the same evening, and they will aim to hit back here. Not just to restore pride, but also to put themselves back in contention for a semi final spot. The Germans had won six on the spin prior to that reverse, scoring 21 goals in the process. After going ahead against the Dutch they can’t have expected to concede four in the second half, but it will serve as a lesson not to be repeated.
Bulgaria are in a tough group with these three teams, and it would be no surprise if they left empty-handed. they did knock France out of the competition in the elite round in order to qualify for these finals, but could be a little out of their depth at this stage.
