West Indies vs England – Third ODI Betting Tips

March 6, 2017

England secured victory in their one-day international series against the West Indies, defeating the home side by four wickets in their second contest at North Sound.

The Three Lions were indebted to an unbeaten century stand between Joe Root and Chris Woakes to drive them over the line after a mid-innings’ collapse almost allowed the Windies to snatch the win.

The resilience of Eoin Morgan’s men helped overcome their struggles in the middle, ensuring that England bounced back from their defeat to India in the winter and put them on the right track ahead of a busy schedule in 2017.

However, there is still one match remaining in the series and the Three Lions will be determined to end their tour on a high note – by completing a whitewash of Jason Holder’s side.

We’ll now break down the betting options for the contest in Barbados, beginning with the home team’s batting card.

West Indies’ Top Batsman

Mohammed has played well

The West Indies made a solid effort to compete against England on a difficult wicket, with the contest being played on the same pitch that was used in the opening game of the series.

As a result, scoring was not easy, especially early in the innings. Evin Lewis and Kieran Powell continued to struggle against the new ball, both falling to the pace of Steven Finn.

Kraigg Brathwaite made an impact after riding out the early storm from Finn and Woakes, but he departed for 42 going for a big strike off Moeen Ali and was duly stumped by Jos Buttler.

Once again it was up to Jason Mohammed and Jonathan Carter to anchor the innings, with Mohammed impressing once again with a steady knock of 50. However, he was unable to kick on after reaching 50, while Carter was dismissed in the 30s.

Both players appear to be in the best form in the Windies’ lineup and have not been daunted by facing the English seamers or spin attack.

Therefore expect them to continue to be in the runs in the next contest in Barbados, which could be friendlier surface to bat on.

Mohammed has been the main man for his team and backing him with Bet365 at 9.00Bet €100 to win €9008/1Bet £100 to win £900+800Bet $100 to win $9008.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$9008.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp900-0.1250Bet RM100 to win RM900  to top score in the third match of the series, ending the series with another impressive outing.

England’s Top Batsman

Root led England to victory

The Three Lions needed their best batsman to come through to guide them to victory and Root did just that with an unbeaten innings of 90 as his team-mates around him struggled.

Sam Billings, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Ali and Morgan all departed for single figures, while Jason Roy was unable to build on his lightning start after reaching 50, although his knock did put England ahead of the rate.

Root remained composed at the crease despite the chaos around him at the other end of the pitch, calmly leading his side to the series-clinching win.

After making just four in the first match, the 26-year-old highlighted his unbending resilience that he will need to keep in abundance for his future trials and tribulations as captain of the Test side.

Root was aided in the push for victory by Woakes, who displayed his ability with the bat, notching his second half-century in his ODI career.

England will not want to see him called on to be such a key player with the bat in Barbados, although he proved his value at the bottom end of the innings not for the first time since becoming an integral part of the team.

The pitch in Barbados may be slightly quicker – which will allow England’s stroke players to cash in. Roy threatened to post a big score before falling to the spin of Ashley Nurse, but backing him to lead the Three Lions to a series win at4.00Bet €100 to win €4003/1Bet £100 to win £400+300Bet $100 to win $4003.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$4003.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp400-0.3333Bet RM100 to win RM400 .

Top Team Bowler

Finn needs to shine in Barbados

Finn put the Windies on the back foot with two early strikes, notching his 100th wicket in one-day internationals.

The 28-year-old became the third fastest player to reach the landmark behind only Darren Gough and Stuart Broad, although Finn’s place in the team is under threat due to the inconsistency of his performances.

He will need to sign off on a strong note in Barbados to keep his place in the side, with Jake Ball and David Willey scheduled to return to action for the busy summer schedule.

As a result, backing him to lead the wicket column for Morgan’s men and build off his performance in Antigua at 5.00Bet €100 to win €5004/1Bet £100 to win £500+400Bet $100 to win $5004.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$5004.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp500-0.2500Bet RM100 to win RM500  would be a prudent option.

The home side will be determined to end the series with a victory, ensuring that they are not the victim of a whitewash. They had England on the ropes at 124-6, but were unable to strike again, allowing the tourists to ease to the win.

Nurse gave the Three Lions severe problems in the middle, removing Roy, Morgan and Ali. The off-spinner claimed impressive figures of 3-34, building off his fine display in the first match of the series.

Expect him to continue to a thorn in England’s side as the 28-year-old’s use of bounce and subtle variations have disrupted the rhythm of the majority of the batsmen he has bowled against, especially Roy on Sunday.

Therefore backing him at 4.50Bet €100 to win €4507/2Bet £100 to win £450+350Bet $100 to win $4503.50Bet HK$100 to win HK$4503.50Bet Rp100 to win Rp450-0.2857Bet RM100 to win RM450  to lead the wicket column once again is a good bet to take.

Match Result

England will be looking to end the series on a high note with a third victory on the spin. Morgan said after his side’s win in Antigua that they would not let off in the final match and it would be no surprise to see the Three Lions triumph once again.

Their sloppiness with the bat almost allowed the Windies back into the contest, and that will give Morgan and coach Trevor Bayliss a solid teaching point for their side.

They have display a killer instinct to win major competitions and securing a whitewash win will be a good sign for the team ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy on home soil later this year. Backing England to secure the win at 1/3 in Barbados is the wisest punt to make.
