Bet of the Weekend #4 – Angers v Dijon

It’s the final weekend of football in Europe’s big 6 leagues before the international break… doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun?

If you’re planning on having a week off (like most of Europe’s elite players) during the international fixtures, there’s no better time to get a solid win in the bank than this weekend.

So, the Tipster Wizard is here to provide his Bet of the Weekend again – check out his selection below.

The Breakdown

This Saturday we are going into the French Ligue 1 where Angers host Dijon at 7pm BST.

Angers have turned their home ground – the Stade Raymond Kopa – into a fortress, having lost just once in their last eleven game there. They put in a solid performance against Bordeaux in the opening game of the season where they came back from a 0-1 deficit to win 3-1.

They lost to Lyon 6-0 away from home recently but that was just Lyon at their very best and playing beautiful football. Back at home last weekend Angers cruised past the newly promoted Metz 3-0 in another very convincing outing.

They are creating a lot of chances and will fancy themselves this weekend when they face bottom of the league and massively struggling Dijon.

Dijon were lucky to survive relegation last season after they won a play-off to remain in the French top flight. However, this time around they are one of my favourites to get relegated.

They have started their season in very disappointing fashion, losing all 3 of their games and only scoring a single goal in the process.

Last week they were beaten by Bordeaux 2-0 at home and Bordeax are a side Angers dominated at their home in the opening game of the season. That gives us an indication of the gulf in class of these 2 teams.

Dijon have never been a good travelling side. Having lost their last 8 of 9 away games in Ligue 1 and Angers being such a solid side at home, I am very confident Angers will be able to get all 3 points on Saturday.
